We live in perilous times.

peril, noun
1. serious and immediate danger

Since the Renaissance era of Johann Von Goethe, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Rudolf Steiner, we have become gullible and susceptible to propaganda. We have been duped and dumbed down. These men reminded us that humanity’s true nature is Nature.

If we want to approach a living perception (Anschauung) of nature, we must become as mobile and flexible as nature herself. (Goethe, 1807; translation by CH; in Miller p. 64)

The Renaissance era was a period of European culture that formed a bridge between the Middle Ages and the modern era.

At the end of the Renaissance emerged the Industrial Revolution (1733-1913). Following the Industrial Revolution, and “organized labor,” came the 21st century Age of Information, also known as the Digital Age/Computer Age/Silicon Age, and the Electronics/Internet Age.

What’s next?

With each new Age, there is a reorganization that takes place. “Organized labor” has led to organized “bodies” as objects. As the Internet paves the way for Artificial Intelligence (A.I.), and the Internet of Bodies (IoB), the value of the Human Being and Nature comes second to Cybernetics and Cyberspace.

In the subtle transition of human society to A.I., we may be half-asleep, unable to see that we face the same threats as Nature. Slowly, our environment, security, and human rights are being replaced with Virtual Reality, Cybersecurity, and Digital Rights.

In our half-sleep state of consciousness, we are planting the seeds for our own extinction.

In forgetting our connection to the Cosmos and Earth, we have become convinced that a connection to the Metaverse will improve the human condition and bring telepathy and immortality. We forget we are already eternal beings through spirit, with the ability to develop the subtle gifts of clairvoyance, telepathy, and more.

In failing to think for ourselves, we take on other’s thoughts and live out other’s lives.

Normalizing Transhumanism

When we plug into the Internet, we become an extension of it; part of the Internet of Things (IoT).

The Metaverse is a virtual Universe, a playground of illusion. Here, we see the frequencies and become part of the digital framework, through a digital ID. A digital Meta headset is a portal to travel to Spain through our avatar, from where we sit, or play a tennis match without a partner, a court, a racket, or a ball.

Research going back two decades (The Mind and the Brain) shows that the way one thinks has a physiological effect on how the brain is shaped and developed. Our thoughts shape the neurological pathways that enable us to have thoughts.

You become what you think about all day long. — Ralph Waldo Emerson

In contrast, living in a world saturated in frequencies and propaganda, connected to the Internet, cell phones and TV, technology directs new neurological pathways to create a “media mind.” Recent research shows Smartphone addiction impairs memory and the ability to retain new information.

Without discernment on how technology is used, the human nervous system and our thoughts are given over to artificial transmissions that tell us what to think. Machine learning is the new dynamic of AI, teaching machines to imitate the way humans learn.

Human individual consciousness changes to group consciousness and then a Borg-like, cluster management.

What happens when human will power – the capacity to think, decide, and act for one’s self – becomes a machine activity?

Then, humans become automatons, subject to the will of IT engineers.

Children, most of all, are at risk. Comprehensive code curriculums are the new school curriculums, where every child gets a headset and a computer to follow a coder’s ladder. Once individual identity is blended to the group, no one thinks of him/herself as unique. Humanism becomes Transhumanism, with the merging of humans with machines (IoT), to do the bidding of an unseen programmer.

Where is the book in which the teacher can read about what teaching is? The children themselves are this book. We should not learn to teach out of any book other than the one lying open before us and consisting of the children themselves. — Rudolf Steiner, Rhythms of Learning

Objects without identity do not require a gender or a title. They are replaceable with Smart™ robots. They are deemed “non-essential.” They are expendable.

Can a dumbed-down humanity “wake up”?

The Solutions

How does one return to a sense of Nature and Humanity?

People return to the works of Renaissance men, and women, at crisis points in life, or when overwhelmed by self-doubt. Where duplicity and hypocrisy are prevalent, and self-esteem is threatened, a trip back to the Renaissance for guidance is as easy as reading their words.

Meeting Emerson, again, introduces people to larger-than-life ideas with a greater vision of human potential. His ideas are considered radical because they remind us that human life has a spiritual purpose. Each individual is endowed with unique gifts, purpose, wisdom, and genius. Our purpose is to unfold our unique character as courageously as possible.

Character is higher than intellect… A great soul will be strong to live, as well as strong to think.— Ralph Waldo Emerson

Goethe, Emerson, and Steiner all taught that suffering is a guide in disguise for awakening. They are gifts for breaking through crisis. As every Age has its struggles, we are gifted life to persevere and remember why we are here.

We suffer because with every inner and outer suffering we eliminate one of our faults and become transformed into something better. ― Rudolf Steiner, Anthroposophy in Everyday Life: Practical Training in Thought

How do we dial back A.I. in favor of spirituality and the rhythms of Nature?

Image by Leo from PixabayRudolf Steiner (1861-1925) developed Anthroposophy, or “spiritual science,” to recognize that humans, like Nature are both matter and beyond matter.  Anthroposophy translates as “human wisdom” from the Greek Anthropos. and Sophia. Within Anthroposophy there is something intrinsically human.

Steiner’s genius developed the best elements from the ancient traditions and combined them from a spiritual perspective. Spiritual science is a synthesis of spirit and science because Steiner recognized that science, as true science (not consensus science), must be recognized by spiritually-minded people.

Steiner not only gifted the world with spiritual science, but also with the Waldorf School system, to adapt to the growing child, and Biodynamic Farming, to honor the sacred human connection to Earth, by nurturing and healing it (vs. dousing it with chemicals).

Since Steiner’s time, the concepts of “human wisdom” have been exchanged for “artificial intelligence,” with little backlash.

Fall of Humanity

The challenge for us is to recognize how spirit and matter have been separated, on purpose, when in reality they are a unified whole.

In order to change the duplicity of society, we must first change it within ourselves, by our thinking, our willpower, and our actions. As each of us is responsible for our choices, it is us, collectively, that are responsible for these perilous times, and for this Fall

Our challenge is to reconnect to the sacredness of Earth and Nature for the evolution of Humanity. Steiner’s message to farmers was that the work they do on the land must balance the work they do on themselves. That message can apply to each of us, no matter what we do.

If we do not believe within ourselves this deeply rooted feeling that there is something higher than ourselves, we shall never find the strength to evolve into something higher.  — Rudolf Steiner
